Fire Safety

Fire resistance is always a consideration when choosing a new roof, perhaps even more so if you live in an area that is prone to wild fires. Metal is widely chosen for its non-combustibility. In fact, you may have noticed that many fire stations today have metal roofs. The low weight of metal roofing also plays a role in fire safety. Heavier materials, such as tile, pose a significant cave-in threat when a fire is burning inside of a home. In fact, fire fighters won’t even go inside a tile-roofed building if the fire has spread to the attic. Metal does not pose this significant cave-in threat and can be easily accessed by trained fire fighter if need be.
